ABOUT
Virtus Wealth: Building Trust and Legacy
Virtus is a Latin word meaning virtue, excellence, courage, and moral integrity. In ancient Roman philosophy, virtus embodied qualities such as strength, honor, wisdom, and leadership—all tied to ethical conduct.
At Virtus Wealth, trust is the cornerstone of our financial advisory relationships. Trust is not merely earned; it’s built over time through integrity, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to your best interests. As a fiduciary, I provide clear, objective advice and a transparent fee structure, ensuring that every decision aligns with your financial goals and long-term success.
A Personal Story of Hard Work and Commitment
Here’s something for you to know about me — a good start to building trust between us:
I was born and raised in China. In 1991, with only $80 in my pocket, I arrived in the United States seeking a better life. Driven by ambition, I quickly began my entrepreneurial journey. Through relentless hard work, I earned my MBA in finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
But I wasn’t content with a comfortable career as a business executive at a Fortune 500 company. I took another leap of faith, pursuing a path in the financial advisory field, where I could combine my financial expertise with my desire to help others. To serve my clients with excellence, I worked countless hours, burning the midnight oil. At 45, I earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation, a testament to my commitment to helping clients achieve financial success.
Yet, my American Dream didn’t stop there. More than a decade later, I founded Virtus Wealth, a firm built on expertise, integrity, trust and an unwavering commitment to long-term financial success for my clients.
Family and Passions
My wife, Mingdi, is an accomplished publisher in the children’s mook business. We’ve built our home on Long Island, New York, where we’ve raised two remarkable sons, Warren (Wharton) and Wesley (Harvard). Both earned National Master titles in chess, making our family the 9th in U.S. history to have two such titleholders under one roof. Wesley’s passion for filmmaking led him to earn a spot on the prestigious 2025 Forbes 30 Under 30 list at just 20 years old.
Beyond my professional career, I am a competitive table tennis player, a decent chess player, and a mediocre golfer. In 2023, I won the U.S. Open Table Tennis Championship in the Men’s Over 50 Singles Division.
I am also deeply committed to giving back. Since Warren and Wesley passed the baton, I have remained heavily involved with CHESSanity (www.chessanity.org), the nonprofit they founded in 2014 to promote chess among K-12 students nationwide. CHESSanity has made a meaningful impact, reaching 48 school districts, 517 schools, and over 5,000 students.
Guiding Principles
My journey has shaped who I am today — an advisor who upholds the highest ethical standards and values integrity, hard work, commitment and perseverance. Wealth management isn’t just about numbers; it’s about building meaningful legacies that stand the test of time.
